About the Venue
The largest UK theatre complex outside of London, Sheffield Theatres is comprised of the Crucible, Crucible Studio and Lyceum Theatres. Sheffield Theatres stage a wide range of in-house and touring productions, from new plays to classic dramas, musicals and dance. The Crucible Theatre reopened in March 2010 following a major refurbishment, under the artistic directorship of Daniel Evans, and has continued to improve on its national renown for producing theatre of the highest quality.
There are spaces for wheelchairs in each of the auditoria. The Crucible and the Lyceum both offer level access into the buildings and lift access to different levels. There are accessible toilet facilities in both buildings. The main Box Office in the Crucible features a lower counter and is fitted with a hearing loop. The Theatres offer captioned, audio described and signed performances of most productions. Details of these can be found in the Access Performance Diary.
